Blog Post 2 The culture killer

29 08 2007

The other day I was watching TV (The Colbert Report). I was not so much interested in the show, as I was in the author who had been giving an interview. The Authors name was Andrew Keen. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Keen I was intrigued by his argument and promotion of his book, “The Cult of the Amateur.” Keen is convinced that the internet is destroying culture. Music, art, videos, and books are all becoming free and easily accessible (destroying the artists “way of life”… due to copyright and piracy). He also argues that the world is losing its identity to the internet with the large melting pot it is creating (The internet is inventing/creating its own culture). I just want to say….. The world will always be changing. Culture changes…. values and beliefs are changed as they go from generation to the next generation. If anything, I say…. forget culture. Humans will evolve to the situations given. I say that this culture/melting pot will only bring everyone closer, and perhaps more productive.
