Media and reality
Today in class, the topic “Media and reality” was mentioned. It was also brought to attention that these were sometimes indistinguishable… I agree with this comment. America is very much a media driven culture; in fact, our media influences our decision on a subconscious and conscious level…so much so that people are turning away from the traditional news stations (IE CNN Fox). It has become so ridiculous about political parties (and bias opinions) that our daily news is nothing more than a political support rally. When a select few individuals (Rupert Murdoc) own the majority of the media stations, it makes watching news comical (RED ALERT! URGENT NEWS.) I am tired watching these stations convey “news” they think is important. War=important, presidential elections=important, natural disasters/warnings=important. What Paris Hilton ate for dinner her first night in prison=STUPID! I would rather watch a comedy news station asking real questions (WHERE THE HELL ARE THE WMD’S IN IRAQ?!?!) than to watch a “Fair and balanced” news station supposedly reporting honest news.
